Best Dating Sites for Seniors Over 70 (2026): Which to Pick and Why

OurTime, SilverSingles, eharmony and Match compared for daters over 70: what each says it is for, free versus paid tiers, published plan lengths and refund windows, and the FTC's safety rules by age.

What's the best dating site for seniors over 70?

For most people over 70, OurTime is the simplest pick: it is built for the 50-plus crowd, its free tier lets you build a profile and search before paying, and the paid tier adds seeing who liked you. Choose SilverSingles if you want a slower, compatibility-led experience and the company's own claim that every visible profile is verified, and eharmony if you want its compatibility quiz and its dedicated page for singles over 70. Match stays the all-ages fallback, with free in-app video chat that doubles as a safety check.

No mainstream service is only for people over 70, so the real choice is between two services aimed at daters over 50 and two all-ages services with senior sections. This guide is built from each service's published app listing, FAQ and terms and from the Federal Trade Commission's consumer guidance and fraud data by age (checked October 2026), rather than first-hand use.

The four picks and who each suits

OurTime: the browse-and-search pick. OurTime's own listing says it "is the dating app for people over 50 who are still out living their lives – and open to who they meet along the way", and that "Whether you're 50, 65 or beyond, connect with people who share your interests, your pace, and your sense of adventure." The free tier is unusually usable: "Free when you join: ● Build your profile with photos, a description and your interests. ● Use Search to discover people who match your lifestyle. ● Share stories and anecdotes in Topics to connect more naturally. ● Get curated daily matches tailored to you." Paying adds the social signals: "Premium with a subscription: ● See who liked you. ● Know when your messages have been read. ● Boost your profile to stand out. ● Send a Super Like to show someone you're truly interested." On safety the listing promises "Profile moderation and fraud detection to help keep the community genuine" and "An easy, intuitive app that guides you every step of the way." For a dater past 70 who wants to look around before spending, that free search is the deciding feature. Check the price at ourtime.com.

SilverSingles: the matched, verified-profile pick. SilverSingles describes itself as "a premium dating app created for singles over 50 who are looking for genuine connections and meaningful relationships", and leads with a claim no other service here makes: "Every profile visible on SilverSingles has been verified." That is SilverSingles' statement, not an independent finding, and the listing does not describe the method, but it also lists "Enhanced scam detection and safety measures" and "A simple and thoughtfully designed dating experience." Its service agreement is the friendliest on refunds: "you may cancel a subscription within three (3) business days of subscribing to our Service to receive a refund", a window it calls your "Trial Period". Check the price at silversingles.com.

eharmony: the compatibility-quiz pick. eharmony is an all-ages service, but it keeps a senior-dating section with a heading that reads "Find Singles Over 70 Near Me", under which it says: "If you are new to the dating scene or looking to start over again, use eharmony as a senior dating site to find singles over 70 near you to begin a romantic journey with." Its FAQ explains the two tiers: "Everyone who joins eharmony starts off with a free Basic membership. This free membership now includes unlimited matches and the ability to send and receive Likes", while Premium "gives you access to eharmony's full suite of features, including unlimited matches and messaging, enhanced search, and the ability to see all your matches' photos." The catch for anyone who dislikes long commitments: "we offer Premium memberships in 6-, 12-, or 24-month plans." Check the price at eharmony.com.

Match: the all-ages fallback with free video chat. Match's listing says the service is "Backed by 25 years of experience" and that "With a free membership, you'll have access to all of the features you need to chat, meet, and date local people in your area, including: Video chat: Take a break from online messaging and really get to know someone. In-app video chat lets you talk and see each other live before exchanging numbers or meeting in person." It also lists "Custom search" and "Virtual & in-person events" among the free features, and notes "You can now chat with your best recommendations daily, no subscription necessary." Seeing someone live before a first meeting is exactly what safety guidance recommends, and having it free inside the app is a real advantage at any age. Match's developer is listed as "Match Group Americas, LLC", the same company named on OurTime's listing. Check the price at match.com.

Why the choice is different at 70 than at 50

Fraud losses per incident rise with age. The FTC's data spotlight on who experiences scams reports: "While older adults were less likely to report losing money to fraud, those 70 and over reported much higher median individual losses." It continues: "The median reported loss was $800 for people 70-79, and a whopping $1,500 for those 80 and over." The same spotlight notes that "The numbers are higher still for people 80 and over – more than 40% of their 2021 loss reports identified a phone call as the contact method", which is one reason to keep a new acquaintance inside the app's messaging for longer than feels natural.

The pool is a 50-plus pool, not a 70-plus one. OurTime and SilverSingles both describe themselves as services for singles over 50; neither publishes an over-70 section, while eharmony does. Match's listing describes a search where you "Get as specific as you want when searching for singles", and OurTime's says to "Use Search to discover people who match your lifestyle", so on either you can narrow the age range yourself rather than waiting for the site to do it.

Commitment length matters more. eharmony sells Premium in "6-, 12-, or 24-month plans", while SilverSingles says it renews "for the subscription term you initially selected at the time of subscription (ie: monthly, every 3 months, or every 6 months, or any other renewal period explicitly offered at the time of subscription)." If you would rather not commit to half a year, SilverSingles' monthly option and its three-business-day Trial Period are the published escape hatches; OurTime's and Match's plan lengths appear only at checkout, so read the renewal line before you pay.

Safety rules that matter more after 70

The FTC's consumer guidance covers the pattern. The excuse for not meeting: "They might say they're living or traveling outside the country, working on an oil rig, in the military, or working with an international organization." The ask: "Once they gain your trust, they'll ask for your help to pay medical expenses (for them or a family member), buy their ticket to visit you, pay for their visa, or help them pay fees to get them out of trouble." The rule: "Here's the bottom line: Never send money or gifts to a sweetheart you haven't met in person."

Three habits follow from the services' own features:

  1. Use the video chat before the coffee. Match builds it into the free tier; on the others, a video call on your own phone does the same job.
  2. Keep early conversation inside the app, where OurTime's "Profile moderation and fraud detection" and the other sites' report buttons still apply.
  3. Tell someone. The FTC's advice if you suspect a scam: "Stop communicating with the person immediately. Talk to someone you trust." And if money has already moved, "contact the company or your bank right away."

How to choose in five minutes

  • You want to look around first and pay later: OurTime, whose free tier includes Search.
  • You want the site to introduce people and you value its verification claim: SilverSingles, and treat the three-business-day Trial Period as a real trial.
  • You want a long-term partner and will fill in a long quiz: eharmony, knowing its plans run six months or longer.
  • You want video calls built in and the widest age mix: Match.

FAQ

Is there a dating site only for people over 70?

Not among the mainstream services. OurTime and SilverSingles describe themselves as being for singles over 50, and eharmony and Match are all-ages services; eharmony's senior-dating section is the only one of the four with a heading for singles over 70. Use the age settings rather than expecting an over-70-only pool.

Which is cheapest for someone over 70?

None of the four publishes its prices on a page we could read without signing up, so compare at checkout and read the renewal term. SilverSingles and eharmony do publish their plan structures: monthly, three-month or six-month renewals at SilverSingles, and 6-, 12- or 24-month Premium plans at eharmony.

Do these sites verify that members are real?

SilverSingles says "Every profile visible on SilverSingles has been verified"; that is its claim. OurTime describes "Profile moderation and fraud detection". Match's free in-app video chat lets you see a person live before meeting. None of them says it runs identity or criminal checks on every member, so the FTC's rules on money and meeting still apply.

Can I use these on a computer instead of a phone?

Yes. Each has a full website at its own address, so a laptop or tablet browser works as well as the app; the app listings quoted here are simply the public pages we could read.

What should I do if a match asks for money?

Stop, and follow the FTC's steps: stop communicating, talk to someone you trust, and if you paid, contact your bank or the card or gift-card company right away, then report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
